Group work is a common instructional practice. Effective group-work participation requires student reliance on their interpersonal communication skills and social-dynamic knowledge, which may be challenging for many Autistic students. In this presentation, we discuss autistic students perceptions and recommendations for group work and how to apply this information into practice.
Participants will be able to:
- Understand perspectives of autistic people about group work.
- Evaluate how accessible and inclusive their group work assignments are for autistic and non-autistic students and.
- Modify/create group work assignments that will be more inclusive of (and effective for) autistic students in their classes.
