Though not explicitly stated, colleges and universities include a tiered system to support students with a wide range of disabilities both academically and socio-emotionally. Attendees will learn a process for helping students, their families, teachers, and other professionals make decisions about the resources needed for a student to be successful.
Participants will be able to:
- Articulate how response to intervention and multi-tiered systems of supports aligns with university student services.
- Apply a decision-making framework for asking questions to determine if a student is a good candidate for postsecondary enrollment with support from disability services, inclusive postsecondary education, or something other than the postsecondary education.
- Review their current level of performance applying the decision-making framework via applied case studies.
Presenters: Dr. Jeremy W. Ford; Julia P. Gorman, MEd; Kathryn De Leon, MIT
