Join Mitch Yell, PhD in his presentation, Disciplining students with disabilities: Uncommonly serious errors made by teachers and administrators. School administrators and teachers respond to disruptive or challenging behavior in a variety of ways. Although the US Supreme Court has held that the US Constitution provides protections for all students, students with disabilities have additional protections under IDEA and Section 504. The purpose of this presentation is to identify these few additional protections and to show that using discipline with students with disabilities is not as difficult as many believe.
