This session will discuss the role of occupational therapy in addressing self-regulation in children throughout the lifespan. The presenter will share evidence for best practices provided by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Intervention strategies include self-regulation and mindfulness approaches, trauma-responsive techniques, and sensory-based strategies. Case studies allow the attendees to apply their knowledge of the following objectives. The objective of the session is to discuss, analyze, and identify opportunities as it relates to: 

1) Self-Regulation and opportunities to address the needs of students, 

2) The importance of self-regulation for all ages and students with and without a disability, 

3) Best practices for improving a student's self-regulation through an occupational therapy lens.
